Confusion Is Part of the Recipe in Wichita Plan for AZ Culinary School
Never has the idea of cooking as a profession been more glamorous than right now. Television reality programs that take place behind the scenes of a restaurant are abundant and people are tuning in to watch the antics of characters such as Gordon Ramsay interact with regular Joes. With the vast number of cooking shows as well as entire television networks devoted to culinary exploits, it is no wonder more people are considering donning the unmistakable chef’s hat. Enrollments at cooking schools across the country are higher than ever and Wichita would like to bite into a piece of this profitable market. A group of illustrious entrepreneurs of Wichita were paying attention and briefly considered opening an AZ Culinary School.
Wichita has been looking for some way to bring the city into the 21st century and giving it a new relevance and this could have been the key. If a new AZ Culinary School was to be opened in the city, it is hopefully safe to assume that some of the graduates would not depart for New York or Los Angeles, but stay local. New independent restaurants and cafes would become part of the downtown city landscape and Wichita would become a foodie destination. Unfortunately, the plan for this new culinary school has been put on hold while the business men and women involved go back to the drawing board regarding the name.
It would seem that some of the people involved are very committed to AZ and others are concerned that people would believe the school was in Arizona. Suggestions of KS Culinary School and the Wichita School of the Palate were given as alternatives, but nothing has been announced by the group. Wichita will just have to keep chewing on its hamburgers, while they wait to see if any first rate filet mignon is on its way.
