Getting a Breast Uplift

If you’re like many women, you may have considered some form of plastic surgery. One of the most popular procedures chosen by women today is a breast uplift. You may no longer be happy with the appearance of your breasts due to age or childbearing, and a lift is a very common option. But no matter how commonplace this procedure is, there are still some things you must know and consider before deciding to move ahead with the surgery.

Always do some research before choosing a surgeon to do a breast uplift. Choose someone with experience, and no pending complaints against him or her from prior patients. At your initial consultation, the surgeon should thoroughly explain the procedure to you, including risks and recovery information. He or she should also ask you what results you want, and tell you how those results can be achieved, or be honest and tell you if they cannot. Your surgeon may also recommend breast augmentation, or implants, be done during the lift procedure. Not all women will need these, and again your surgeon should explain why you would or would not need implants.

Once you are comfortable with your choice of surgeon, you’re ready to schedule the breast uplift procedure. The surgery can be lengthy or rather short, depending on the amount of uplift you need done. The more you need, the longer it will take. Also, your procedure will take longer if you are getting breast implants done at the same time. A good estimate for procedure length is somewhere around three hours.

Your surgeon will give you aftercare procedures specific to your case. Most women are advised to take pain medications, avoid lifting, and wear a very supportive bra after a breast lift. In some cases, a drain tube is required to remove fluid from the surgery site. This is only temporary, and helps to aid in the healing process. Most likely, you will be able to return to full activity in about a month. You will also have follow-up visits with your surgeon after the procedure. The follow-up visits will be used to assess your healing, and also to remove your stitches, which will happen within the first two weeks after the surgery.

Getting a breast uplift can boost your self-esteem as well as your breasts. If you’re seriously considering it, book a consultation with a surgeon to discuss your options.
